Building a community of lifelong learners!

Building a community of lifelong learners!
UPDATE:
We are absolutely delighted that the Department for Education will be going ahead with the University of Nottingham/EMET Maths School. This decision marks a major milestone for the programme and reflects ministers’ recognition of the value University Maths Schools bring in preparing future mathematical scientists, securing strong outcomes for under-represented students, and raising attainment in mathematics across their regions. This, alongside Durham maths school, will complete the national network and ensure that young people across the country will benefit from the Maths School initiative.
Maths Schools nationally have received national recognition for excellence already being delivered across the network. The Times has named the University of Liverpool Maths School as State Sixth Form College of the Year, and King’s College London Mathematics School as State Sixth Form College of the Year for Academic Excellence.
These accolades are a powerful testament to the extraordinary work of students, staff, university partners and wider communities, and to what is possible when excellence and equity go hand in hand. We look forward to EMET and the University of Nottingham also being recognised in a similar way in the future.
We will update this section as the project continues to develop.
The University of Nottingham 16-19 Maths school represents a partnership between the University of Nottingham and the East Midlands Education Trust. A unique Sixth Form provision for the whole of the East Midlands, it will be a centre of excellence, providing a specialised curriculum for students who have a passion and flair for mathematics in preparation for them to excel in mathematics and related degrees at university.
Students with an aptitude for mathematics will be able to study A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. Specialist teachers at the school will work alongside colleagues and students from the University of Nottingham to deliver an exciting, challenging and ambitious curriculum for the region’s most gifted mathematically minded students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
